It is important during the early phases to give your child support while he or she is dealing with homework. Instead of making the child uneasy by making he or she feel guarded or supervised, try and show interest in what your child is learning at classes. The best time for homework would be after the family meal and a short break. It is important to try and insure that homework is dealt with at certain times in order to give it a certain ritual characteristic. It is important not to let your child leave it until late in the evening or after strenuous playing. Only in a rested state of mind will your child be motivated and willing to do its homework. Give him or her plenty of time to finish off their homework.

Try and reduce making your child repeat certain tasks. It has to learn for itself when a task can be considered finished. The child must learn take responsibility for him or herself in front of the teacher. Sometimes the amount of tasks seem more unbearable than they actually are. However, should you feel that child is being overworked do not hesitate to discuss the matter with his of her teacher in strict confidence.
