A New Role for my Shoe

A New Role for my Shoe

An idea from Ulrich Winkelmann

With Plaka – just a few steps away from a work of art – an amazing transformation for your shoe.

Shoes accompany us through our whole lives, however, most of them wear out quite quickly. Different shoes are worn to different occasions: beach shoes, trainers, shoes for the office and high-healed shoes and many, many more. Especially for pupils, shoes are important because of the impression they make on others. They represent the need for recognition. The perception of a shoe can suddenly change once they have been given a new look. A shoe turns for example, into an aeroplane, a car, a house, or a ship.

It's so easy:

A possible introduction to your lesson could be the observation of surrealistic pictures (e.g. Salvador Dalí , see Pelikan Teachers’ Info K12 the original) or a motivating discussion. The object is to inspire the pupils’ imaginations to see the shoes in front of them in another context.

To give the children a wider perspective for the re-design of their shoes, it can be helpful to start with making sketches.
