Ductus - readers' favourite

Pelikan's fine writing instrument Ductus was awarded the coveted "Stylus Icon Award" by readers of "Stylus" magazine

The readers had the choice – and decided on Ductus: in the category of premium writing instruments in the price range 101$ to 500$, readers of the American "Stylus" magazine chose Pelikan's classically elegant Ductus as their favourite writing instrument. All 2009 "Stylus" readers were able to take part in the annual vote on the award of the prestigious "Stylus Icon Award".

The American glossy magazine "Stylus" is devoted to the world of the handwritten word and fine writing instruments. It appears four times a year, with a circulation of 46,000 copies, and is distributed worldwide. Over half of "Stylus" readers describe themselves as collectors of fine writing instruments, when asked in a survey. The Stylus magazine website can be found at www.stylusmag.com. With the "Stylus Icon Award", the "Stylus" editorial team offers readers the opportunity to express their appreciation of particularly favoured writing instruments.

In the award winner Ductus, Pelikan combines classic elements with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to create an innovative writing instrument. This series includes a cartridge fountain pen, ballpoint pen and pencil with twist mechanism, as well as a rollerball with ink refill. Anyone who owns a Ductus writing instrument will never lose sight of his or her goal – since this modern collection is all about clear lines! Hence the name too: "Ductus" comes from the Lain and means "guidance" or "leadership".

The elaborate craftsmanship of the Ductus emphasises the exclusivity and quality of this timeless writing instrument: the brass barrel is first given several coats of varnish, then contoured and finally polished to a high-gloss finish. The lines on the cap and filling handle are carefully engraved after this process. The resulting depressions are then - depending on the desired colour effect - filled with palladium or 24 carat gold, to give the striped design typical of the Ductus.

Finally, every Ductus writing instrument is given a coat of clear varnish, so that the surface is pleasingly smooth but also robust, and this timeless writing instrument can give its owner pleasure for a long time to come. The practical cartridge filling system allows flexible handling for people who travel frequently, and the rhodanized 18-carat gold nib writes so softly that every stroke is a pleasure.

The cartridge fountain pen is available for 320 €, while ballpoint pen, pencil and rollerball come at a price of 220 € each.
