The popular Pelikano fountain pen will be 50 years old – to celebrate its anniversary, Pelikan is arranging a Europe-wide writing competition and inviting five children on an adventure trip to New York!

Pelikan has cause to celebrate: the classic fountain pen for children, the time-tested Pelikano, will be 50 years old! At the same time, Pelikan is celebrating the new contemporary design of the Pelikano in the three lively colours red, blue and green.

Pelikan is marking this important anniversary with a special creative competition: under the slogan "Discover your talent!", Pelikan's European writing contest is aimed at creative children between the ages of 9 and 13, who will be doing their utmost to win over the expert jury with their own fantasy story, love story or personal story. To be launched in February 2010, this talent contest will unite many different nationalities, as it will be advertised throughout Europe!

Irrespective of whether the participants fancy themselves as an aspiring author or media reporter, and are passionate about the genres of fantasy, love or personal stories – the most exciting, entertaining and brilliant texts from the three categories will be rewarded with a spectacular grand prize: in November 2010, for a total of four days, the five language masters from different countries, accompanied by a parent, will fly to the American city of superlatives and skyscrapers: New York City! In addition to the classic sightseeing highlights, Pelikan's New York trip will offer the children and their relatives a very special highlight: a visit to the UNO and Unicef!

The new Pelikano fountain pen will be available in shops from February 2010, for 14.90 euros. The matching trendy rollerball will be available for 8.90 euros. Both writing implements are available in left-handed and right-handed versions.
