Pelikan's griffix® learn-to-write system has won the "Good Design Award USA"
The world's first learn-to-write system from the Pelikan company can celebrate winning
yet another award: After the international seal of quality, the "red dot design award
2008", and the sought-after "ISPA Award" of the International Stationery Press Association
and the EOPA Award of the international OPI magazine, the child-oriented learn-to-write
system has continued to develop its position as an outstanding design product at the
end of 2009, and in addition to the "Good Design Award Japan" has now also received
the international design award from the USA, the "Good Design Award USA", in the children's
products category. What's more, griffix® has been nominated for the design award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2009.
Further European awards, such as the Benelux Office Products Award 2009, the French
Smac d’or and the "Best Product in the Office and School Sector 2009" award from the
PBBS (Polish Chamber of Office and School Products Trade) complete this series of
successes. The Good Design Award highlights the renowned design recommendation of
the American expert jury and symbolizes high quality, excellent functionality, user-friendliness
and generally balanced and innovative products. It was awarded for the first time
in Chicago in 1950. Since 1988 the Chicago Athenaeum, the Museum for Architecture
and Design, has organized the award of this prize.
The four-stage learn-to-write system from Pelikan features an ergonomic grip zone
with optimal support for thumb, index and middle finger, providing excellent starting
conditions for learning to write. The complex motor skills required for writing are
supported and shaped by a wax marker in the first stage of the system, by a pencil
in the second, an ink pen - the fountain pen's little brother - in the third, and
finally by a fountain pen in the fourth stage. The different pen shapes encourage
the children's development with appropriate freedom of movement, helping them to produce
accurate and attractive writing without tiring.
The expert jury in Chicago has now highlighted the uniqueness of the griffix® learn-to-write system with the award of the "Good Design Award USA".
