The third fountain pen in the series "Achievements of Civilisation" celebrates the art of taming fire. The two previous models were "Evolution of Script" (2007) and "Calculation of Times" (2008).

The limited edition "Fire" is dedicated to this ability and is restricted to 500 writing instruments worldwide. It was launched in August 2010.

The most important motif is the bowl filled with fire. History tells us that in former times, our ancestors had to wait for lightning to strike before they could 'catch' the flames. They filled skulls with oil in order to preserve the special flames that gave warmth, kept wild beasts at bay and helped to prepare food. Today, fire is just a match away, but to celebrate this achievement of civilisation,the bowl of fire is depicted on the clip, the especially created nib, and the cap.

A true classic

In 1950, the model 400 was launched. With its striped sleeve, it has become a world-wide symbol for the brand of Pelikan. To this date, this fountain pen exists in many different variations, and though it has been developed in design and technical details over time, the basic mechanism remains the same.

The re-invented classic

The Souverän 625 convinces with the classic lines of the Souverän 600 combined with a modern design. Those who look closer are rewarded by the play of light in the slightly translucent barrel.

It was then that the Hungarian engineer Theodor Kovacs developed a revolutionary new system: The piston filling mechanism with a differential spindle gear.

Compensation chambers were added to the ink feed to prevent blotting. In 1927 he sold the patents to the company Günther Wagner in Hanover that re-patented them under its own name in 1929.

In the same year, the "transparent Pelikan fountain pen" was launched. The technical advantages, made known to the retailers and buyers in and outside the country by extensive advertisement, quickly resulted in the company Günther Wagner gaining a substantial share in the fountain pen market.
