Clove Figure Underway!

In our new series "Glued pictures", we would like to present you some exercises that may provide essential special support in stimulating the fine motor skills. In using different sorts of materials, such as pieces of wool, surprisingly easy, little pieces of art are created that certainly will not miss out educational use. In the choice of glue, we have decided to use all-purpose glue that is easy to dose, as it is not a stringy type of glue. This will allow the students to concentrate on their work even better. By the way, the glued pictures are also available as a template to download!

This is what the completed spice pictures look like.

Best cover the table with newspaper and prepare your work place beforehand. The necessary spices and the glue are laid out ready.

Start by drawing the desired pattern for the spice picture on an oval piece of strong cardboard. Certainly, you can also use our download templates or simply let your students create their own patterns.

Now, apply the glue onto the drawn lines. Spread the all-purpose glue evenly onto the areas that are to be glued.

Now, gradually spread the spices onto the gluey surface. In order to create a clean edge, hold a piece of paper onto the border line.

Draw your own pattern in pencil. Especially when working with powdery spices, a bordering piece of paper along the edge will prove useful.

When using powdery spices, like in our example the paprika powder, the border along the edge is very useful. This way, the remaining powder will not be completely lost, but can be reused again.

Gradually apply glue to all fields and spread the spices on evenly.

The chili peppers can be placed beside each other and will stick by slightly pressing them onto the glue.

Some advice:

Granular spices, such as salt, can easily be dosed by using a spoon. The bay leaves are glued on in an overlapping pattern. This way, the surface is covered later on.

Spice Picture Variation 2

Our clove figures smell good

We would now like to present you another version of our spice picture. For this purpose, we have used blue party sugar, curry, bay leaves and clove. Concerning the content of the picture, we have decided to create a typical sunset as an example. This template can also be downloaded. By the way, the sun has been decorated with curry.

For the water, first spread glue onto a broad surface. Then sprinkle blue sugar directly from the package onto the glued area.

Glue is also applied onto the area for the sun. Then sprinkle curry powder onto the glue. For the sun rays, the glue must be applied precisely accurate. Draw the lines by hand Sprinkle curry powder on it. Should some of the spices fall left an right from the glue line, it is not so bad. The remaining surface between the rays is also covered with glue and a thin layer of curry is sprinkled on.

The party sugar can be poured directly from the package.

The sun rays are first drawn by a line of all-purpose glue and then sprinkled on with curry powder.

Now, only the clove figure is missing. A bay leaf serves as a boat and three cloves make up the figure (body and arms). After having applied some all-purpose glue to the figures, they are pressed onto the surface.

Within a few steps the clove figure is sitting on the bay leaf boat.
After having dried, the spice pictures are ready to be hung up.

Not only do spice pictures look remarkable, but they smell wonderful, too - even after weeks to pass!

Hint: A self-made picture frame will make your picture look even more impressive:

The frames are also included in the download package, by the way, even in the right size to fit the spice picture templates for self-design.

It's as easy as this:

1. Print out the download template. 2. Cut out the template. 3. Glue the template onto the spice picture with all-purpose glue. Your picture is completed!
