Extra tip: The Opinion Cards

Original idea from Michaela & Marc Schmidt, Haiger

Colours with signal effect: positive statements are signalised with the green card and negative statements with the red card!

Description:

The one side of the opinion card is red the other green. Frau Schmidt uses the card in phases in which she wants to obtain an opinion from the pupils. The card is given to the first pupil who is allowed to make a statement to the question asked and say something to the "green side", i.e. a positive statement or to the "red side", i.e. make a critical statement. When the first pupil has had his say he passes the card to his neighbour and so on. Beforehand it should be agreed that short and precise statements should be made.

This method can be used not only for discussion of the lesson topic but also for a final assessment of the lesson. The fact that the card is passed around means every pupil has a chance to express an opinion. Particularly when dealing with delicate topics, the more self-confident pupils tend to dominate the discussion and the quieter pupils hardly get a word in.

Recommendation:

Print this sign and stick together back to back. To keep it in good shape, have it laminated at the copy shop
