Christmas Mobile

We would like to offer you a nice crafting idea for the Christmas season that is made in no time. The aluminum shells of empty tea candles have been reused in order to make the stars. If you hang the mobile in a breezy corner, the aluminum stars will jingle. By then, you will know for sure that Christmastime is coming!

This is what you need:
Red and blue colored paper, a pair of scissors, Pelikan colored pencils, opaque white, paintbrush (long bristles, size 6) five tea candles, yarn and a long needle.

It's as easy as this:

Angel
  1. Print out the angel templates onto the blue or red colored paper.
  2. Carefully cut out the angel and cut it in along the dotted lines.
  3. Cut out the two wing/arm parts.
  4. Fold the angel one time in half and unfold it again.
  5. Apply glue to the gluing area of the wing/arm part (marked 'a+b') and carefully pull it through the slot of the body part. The glue it onto the body half 'A' at height of the points 'a+b'.
  6. Fold the body half 'A' to the back. Now apply glue onto the other wing/arm part and pull it through the slot. Glue it onto the body half 'B' at height of the marking 'b+c'.
  7. Now only glue the angel together in the neck area.
  8. Cut out the heads and glue the necks together mirror-inverted.
  9. Color the angel with Pelikan colored pencils.

Hint: The angels can be decorated individually, e. g. with a book or a star staff. Make a small cut into the angel's hands and stick the book inbetween.
Glue the star staff between the hands. You can use the template or create the staff out of a toothpick.

Stars

  1. Print out the outlines of the clouds on a piece of blue colored paper and cut it out carefully.
Hint: The cloud will gain a more dominant appearance, when printed out on a piece of paper in DIN A3 size. For this purpose, just set your printer to the zoom factor 142% and print out the template on a piece of colored paper. To achieve a more voluminous appearance to the cloud, you can attach even more stars and angels than the available markings show.
Alternatively, you can hang several DIN A4 clouds beside each other. This way you will receive a nice, fluffy blanket of clouds.
  2. Paint the cloud with white dots of opaque paint.
  3. Attach the angels and stars (all in all, there are 9 markings for the angels and stars) onto the cloud with the piece of yarn, by sticking the needle into the back of the angel (see marking) or into the star. Then stick the needle through the cloud and pull the piece of yarn though. Tie a knot to fasten the string.
Hint: Attach the stars and angels in different heights. This way, the mobile will look even more vivacious. The angels can be hung in a standing or in a lying position. For this purpose, simply tie the piece of string on the back, either higher or lower.
  4. Finally, tie the piece of string to the top of the cloud, in order to be able to hang it up.
  5. Hang the mobile in a breezy corner. This way, you will best be able to hear the jingling stars.
