Colorful Pinwheel

The colorful pinwheel works best when the wind is blowing strongly. It should be placed upright on the ground, and with a quick turn and a little updraft by the wind, it should start rolling. Although this pinwheel appears to be very delicate, its speed should not be underestimated. In strong wind, you will barely be able to catch up with the it.

Series Flying Objects

Logo Flugobjekte

2000 years ago, the Chinese built the first kites. In our new series "Flying Objects", we would to link to this tradition of paper planes. Folded paper planes are made of one sheet of paper only and without using any glue or other aids. Our paper planes, however, can be cut out, painted and nicely accessorized.

Paper planes keep fascinating students over and over and therefore provide you the possibility to introduce the topic "air" in class in a playful way. However, this paper plane is not exclusively meant for the purpose of being used in class, it can find use on other occasions as well, like for inbetween.

This is what you need:

Pelikan download template, Pelikan colored paper, scissors, Pelikan wax crayons

It's as easy as this:
  1. Print out the download template on a sheet of paper and glue it on the piece of colored paper. Then cut the template out and color the pinwheel in different colors (pic. 1).
  2. Cut into the solid lines and fold every second triangle of the created triangles upwards (pic. 2).
  3. Fold the other triangles to the other side (pic. 3).)
  4. Set the colorful pinwheel upright on the ground in strong wind. Carefully let go (pic. 4). The colorful pinwheel will quickly gain speed and be hard to catch up with.

Have fun!
