Crafting Idea: The Roll Animals Fish and Frog

The simplest things often are the most effective! This counts for the Pelikan roll animals, too. With a plain paper roll and hardly any work, you can create funny animals, which then only have to be placed in the proper surrounding. Toilet paper rolls have the perfect size for our roll animals and can be adjusted easily.

This is what you need:

The Pelikan download template, toilet paper rolls, PLAKA paint in red, green and golden yellow, Wonderliners in blue and gold, Pelifix glue, 2 round head fasteners, Styrofoam® balls Ø 20 mm, Pelikan crafting foil in gold, colored paper in white and green, a paintbrush with long bristles size 10-12, sewing yarn and a pair of scissors and a knife.

It's as easy as this:

Fish

1. Print out the download template "Cutting aids". We start with the "fish" template. Slightly press the toilet paper roll together and transfer the markings for the cutting aids onto the paper roll. Cut the front rounding of the mouth to a round shape using a pair of scissors. Carefully make a cut for the back fin with a knife.

The markings for the eyes and the pelvic fins serve as gluing areas. The different body parts will be glued there, afterwards.

2. Print out the download template "Fish Accessories". Transfer all parts onto a piece of cardboard paper and cut them out neatly. Alternatively, you can also create your own fins. Hereby, mind making the gluing areas as large as the ones from the templates so they fit, well, later on.

3. To install the tail fin, apply glue onto both sides of the gluing flaps. Now, press the toilet paper roll together again (shifted by 90°) and glue the tail fin on, in between.

4. Apply glue thinly on one side of the gluing area of the back fin and stick it through the cut made previously. Now, press the gluing flap to the inside wall of the paper roll.

5. Glue the pelvic fins on the appropriate markings of the fish belly.

6. Half the Styrofoam® ball carefully with a knife and glue each half on the two areas marked for the eyes.

7. Now you can decorate your fish any way you like. However, you may also use our design ideas to decorate your fish: Paint the fish in PLAKA red, except the fins. After the paint has dried, the mouth of the fish is accentuated using a black Wonderliner and the sides of the fish receive further decorations using the golden Wonderliner. Our example shows a row of triangles. The eyes can be painted with flower patterns, which will make it look line the fish under water is looking out of undergrowth.

8. Finally, we decorated the fins with dots and lines. You can hang up the fish on a thin piece of string (sewing yarn) by attaching it to the back fin.

2. Transfer the feet of the download template "frog accessories" onto the white cardboard paper and cut them out.

3. Glue the rectangular shape of the forefoot centrically under the frog. Then, fold the corners along the folding line in the direction of the arrow at the frog's feet.

The corners are folded along the folding line in the direction of the arrow at the frog's feet.

4. Poke a hole through the markings of the hind legs, then lay them on top of each other and attach them with a round head fastener.

5. Glue the Styrofoam®balls on the markings for the eyes.

6. Paint the frog with PLAKA paint in green and paint the eyes with PLAKA paint in gold.

7. Cut out a crown from the golden crafting foil and glue them centrically onto the head of the frog.

8. Placed in the right surrounding, you will feel tempted to kiss the frog! Who knows, it may become a prince!
