Extra tip: Work Forms

An idea from Maiko Kahler, Hannover

4 cards for indicating various work forms

Description:

Individual work: When this card is shown all the pupils know that they must work by themselves.

Group Work: This card means getting together. Several children are allowed to work in a group to achieve a common result.

Partner Work: Working with a neighbour or a classmate can also be very effective. Once this card has been shown 2 pupils can get together.

Silent Work: The class must be absolutely silent during this task to enable everybody to concentrate. Nobody is allowed to speak until the teacher has given a sign, for example, the ringing of a bell.

Recommendation:

Print out the signs and have them laminated at the local copy shop to keep them in shape. Another alternative would be to enlarge the signs on the photocopier and hang them on the blackboard.
