No 2: Seikaiha

The Seikaiha painting technique is a method to create a regular pattern on an object of art. First, a thin coat of Shibourushi lacquer is applied onto the body of the fountain pen, then the special pattern is drawn by using a spatula or a brush when the lacquer is half-dry. This work was completed by using the typically Japanese orange lacquer.
