The Pelikan water-color game

A game of dice for 2 or 3 players - an idea by Jürgen Schroth

The topic “water-colors” always comes up in class. The Pelikan water-color paint box includes all important colors for class. But how can students be motivated to deal with the colors in the paint box more intensively? Jürgen Schroth developed a game to this subject and sent us his idea, which we would like to introduce to you at this point. By the way, you can download this game at the teachers’ info and immediately use it in class.

Print out the game boards 1+2 and the color cards. Glue the color cards (for version n° 2) on a piece of card board. Additionally you will need a dice.

The templates of the paint boxes serve as game boards.

The download template also contains the complementary colors, the rules of the game and the color cards.

It’s easy to play:

It’s played with the original color pans on template n° 1. The color pans serve as gaming pieces. Take turns throwing the dice and go from field 1 (start) to the Chinese white (finish).

game board 1: game plan of the water-color game, When playing with 2 players, you only play with yellow and cyan-blue, add the magenta red when playing with 3 players. The color pans serve as gaming pieces

Version 1 (with game board 1)

At the start, the color pans are outside of the playing field. Whoever reaches his own color after throwing the dice is allowed to take another turn. Whoever reaches a complementary color must skip a turn.

Winner is whoever reaches the Chinese white field first. The finishing field must be reached with the exact number on the dice.

Version 2 (with game board 2)

This version is played with the game board 2 and the cut out color cards. Place the round color cards correctly on game board 2

Tip:Glue the color cards on a piece of card board and laminate them. This way they can be used repeatedly.

Game board 2: This game board is for placing the color cards.

The color pans are the gaming pieces (yellow, cyan blue and magenta red). The rules regarding skipping turns, taking two turns and reaching the Chinese-white field with the exact number on the dice also count for this version.
