Make A Wish Nib & guided tours on site now possible

A nib especially made according to individual specifications has been a long standing wish of many collectors of high-end writing instruments and fans of Pelikan. On top of that, they would love to get a peep behind the scenes and to see in person how premium writing instruments are being produced.

We are happy that we can now fulfill this wish! As of February 2014, the production of Pelikan will open its doors on a predefined Friday of each month by taking individual appointments via the Internet!

Which Nib?

As the base for your individual nib, you can choose a bi-color gold nib of the Souveraen model in the sizes 400, 600, 800 and 1000. These nib bases are equipped with a particularly broad Iridium grain, and the Pelikan nib specialist will grind it according to your specification. In order to accommodate all wishes, such a broad grain is needed, that’s why this service can’t be offered for nibs which are already in your possession.

We believe that a personal consultation is essential in order to get the nib right, this is why we only offer this service on site – you just book the date via the Internet. We would also like to point out that we will only grind the grain and will not be able to realize a so-called “flex nib”, as these nibs require a different cut.

While grinding, no spectators are allowed, but the nib can be tested right afterward to make sure that you are fully satisfied. This concept is called “Make A Wish Nib” as virtually no wish is left uncovered.

The 400 and 600 nibs are made of 14 carat gold, while the 800 nib is made of 18 carat gold. Due to an additional rhodium trim, these nibs have the attractive bi-color design. All nibs have the usual Pelikan embossing, but with an additional S (for special nib).

They fit into the corresponding Souveraen fountain pens of the existing Pelikan collection. (However, there are some historical models where these nibs will not fit).
